Judith Owen Septet. Jamie Baum Quartet. Anke Helfrich Trio. 47th Leverkusen Jazz Festival.
Judith Owen
Judith Owen is a genre-spanning singer, songwriter and storyteller whose work encompasses jazz, blues, big band, rock, pop, classical music and musical theatre. Known for her charismatic live performances – part concert, part theatre – she creates what she herself calls “mini-musicals”, blending humour, emotion and musical skill.
Her new album “Suit Yourself” captures the full Judith Owen experience. It builds on the energy of “Come On and Get It”, the big-band flair of “Judith Owen Swings Christmas” and the immediacy of “Comes Alive”. The result is a rich, cohesive body of work, rooted in jazz and blues and carried by Owen’s distinctive voice and musical identity.
Jamie Baum Quartet
New York-based flutist, composer and producer Jamie Baum has toured the US and over 35 countries, performing at major festivals, clubs and concert halls. Her focus is primarily on jazz, and she has been involved in numerous projects that also encompass classical and Latin American music.
Anke Helfrich
Anke Helfrich, who grew up in Germany and Namibia, has recorded five highly acclaimed albums as a bandleader and has been honoured with numerous awards. Her trio received the ECHO Jazz Award for Best National Instrumentalist in the Piano/Keyboards category.
Together, the three artists present an inspiring concert that combines both musical excellence and strong female voices in the jazz scene.
